Fire from mirror images! The secret of the electric fireplace with Opti ﬂ ame ® technology is a movable axis with mirrors.
Like the rotor blades of a propeller, curved and correspondingly rotated mirror elements are attached to it. This creates the largest and most irregular reflective surface possible, on which the light is refracted in innumerable ways. And this creates the flame effect; the more the individual elements move, the more realistic the flickering of the „flames” becomes … just like with real flames.
This technique is based on the very first electric fireplace, invented by British inventor John Berry in the early twentieth century. Even then, a reflective axis was illuminated by a light source, with the mirror axis in front of the dark rear wall of the fireplace being illuminated from the side upwards. The logs and / or coals in the bed of embers are also illuminated from below in order to create a glowing effect that is as real as possible.
